Woodland Chapel Freewill Baptist Church was organized in 1914 by Jacob Fox. There were seven known charter members of the newly established church. These members were: Missouri Pancake, John H. Smith, Margaret Smith, Elisha Sanders, Dora Sanders, Oscar Kelley and Jacob Fox. Woodland Chapel held a formal dedication service on September 19, 1915. The original church was located approximately 5 miles north of Ironton, Ohio on State Route 93
In 1942 the church building was destroyed by fire. The church was rebuilt and dedicated in 1943.
During the early 1960's the church experienced a large growth in membership. The need for a new and larger place of worship was very evident. In 1963, a foundation was laid for the new church site approximately four miles north of Ironton, Ohio on State Route 93. This new and present site of Woodland Chapel was completed in 1964 with a formal dedication service on Sunday, March 19, 1964.
The old Woodland Chapel Church building was sold and is presently being used as a small business site, doing business as Miller-Smith Concrete Products.
